Tapio Wirkkala designed in a wide range of different materials. He said that materials have their own rules that dictate the artistic process. He often made the prototype of his creation by himself. He said that his task as an artist was to free the inner potential of each material.
The Feather and Leaf Art plates/bowls are examples of Wirkkalas creations that are inspired by nature. There are several creations by Wirkkala with comb cut decoration.
The back of these plates is comb-cut, and the up-side is smooth.
These Art plates are massive and heavy, model number is 3337.
We have "Leaves" of two different sizes for sale at the moment. A larger one is for sale elsewhere on this site.
This smaller leaf is 19 cm x 15 cm, and weighs a little over 1 kg.
It is in a Very Good conditon with only minor normal wear due to age.
