This is a handsome shiny black bird made for Stockmann's 125 years Anniversary in year 1987. The head has a beige luster over a green marbled head and and the tail has a special split tail design. The tail of this individual has some blue-green-yellow splash on it.
The bird was produced as a numbered edition and is rarely available these days. This bird is numbered 183/500, and is a very good looking representative of this species.
Black Grouse is described in the new book "Toikan Lasilinnut - Toikka's Glass Birds" on page 37.
The design is by famous professor Oiva Toikka and the bird is hand made in Finland in legendary Nuutajärvi glass factory.
