This vase is of a limited new-edition of the very rare so called "Boomerang" vase from 1936 by Alvar Aalto. This one is moss green in color and it is numbered 1697/2021.
The Aalto vases designed by famous architect Alvar Aalto have become an icon of Finnish design. These vases were first presented in 1936 and got much attention at the Paris World Fair in 1937. They represent a perfect example of Alvar Aalto's free flowing imagination. Since 1937 the Aalto vases have conquered the hearts of many generations world wide. The so called Savoy vase is by far the most vell known variant of the Aalto vases. These have been produced in several different sizes and colors.
The boomerang variant of the Aalto vases was in production only in 1937! Hardly any of these early items are still intact and around in the world, and on auctions the price of these can rise really high (even over 50.000 euros!).
To celebrate the 140th birthday of Iittala Glass factory in 2021 a new edition of the bomerang vase was produced in four different colors (clear, copper, moss green and dark grey). 2021 numbered pieces of each color was produced.
These vases were blown into a wooden mold, just like in the old days, which gives these vases a very beautiful structure and properties. The new-edition of the boomerang was popular and sold out quickly.
On the last picture you see this vase together with the copper Boomerang vase.
