The Feather and Leaf art glass pieces are examples of Tapio Wirkkala creations that are inspired by nature. There are several creations by Wirkkala with comb cut decoration.
The back of these plates is comb-cut, and the up-side is smooth.

We have Leaf plates by Tapio Wirkkala of two different sizes for sale at the moment. The smaller one is for sale elsewhere on this site. This piece was hand made in year 1955 at Iittala.
Tapio Wirkkala designed in a wide range of different materials. He said that materials have their own rules that dictate the artistic process. He often made the prototype of his creation by himself. He said that his task as an artist was to free the inner potential of each material.
