Birger Kaipiainen (1915-1988) is one of the most successful and well known ceramic artists in Finland. His most famous designs were made at Arabia Ceramics factory.
The Florence Wall Plate from the 1980s is a typical representative of Birger Kaipiainen's design, including the pocket watches which is a personal feature in many of his works. The time on the watches is always a quarter past twelve.
The Florence wall plate is oval in shape. It has a convenient hanging system of high quality.
The plate is decorated with ceramic pearls, and it is hand painted.
The glaze is partly iridescent, which brings something magic to how light acts on the colors.
