Birger Kaipiainen (1915-1988) is one of the most successful and well known ceramic artists in Finland. His most famous designs were made at Arabia Ceramics factory.
This hand painted plate with the pocket watches pointing at 15 past 12 and with black and golden pearl decorations is a typical representative of Birger Kaipiainen's design. However this model on foot is much more rare compared to the normal decorative plates without foot. The plate is oval in shape, 25 x 23 cm in diameter, and stands on a 13cm foot, with the overall height of this piece being 16,2 cm.
The glaze is partly iridescent which causes some multicolored reflections, seen at the flower and at the butterfly and on the foot.
This item in very good vintage condition without any chips or cracks. Only minor normal wear due to age.
