The Plover bird is one in the series of twelve birds designed by Oiva Toikka for selling by mail order in the 90s. Each of the birds in this collection represent quite different types and techniques, but they all are in a handy size for sending by mail. The collection is called the "Birds of Passage".
The Plover is a light yellow bird decorated with thin dark stripes. The head is in clear glass, the tail in clear golden-yellow glass.
It is called "Kurmitsa" in Finnish.
The Plover was in production 1991-1997, and it is hand made in the legendary glass factory in Nuutajärvi, in Finland.
You find the bird on page 68 in the new book "Toikan Lasilinnut - Toikka's Glass Birds".
In this individual the stripes have come out very well, and the pigment has stayed within the stripes fairly well. So the bird looks neat. In the group photos at the end of the presentation you find this one furthermost to the right, or right front.
