This Long-Tailed Duck is of a very early production. The very early ones have a characteristic shape, and also are not so metallic as some of the later ones. The the long phrase signature: Oiva Toikka Nuutajärvi Notsjö was routinely in use in the eighties also on ordinary cathalogue birds. In the beginning of the 90s there was a gradual switch towards shorter signatures.
This bird has a very nice pattern with green, white and golden brown colors. Green and white ones are not very often seen for sale.
Long-tailed duck was in production for quite a long period: 1981-2009. Over the years there was a change both in shape and colors as well as the signature.
This bird is described in the new book "Toikan Lasilinnut - Toikka's Glassbirds" on page 20.
