Birger Kaipiainen (1915-1988) is one of the most successful and well known ceramic artists in Finland. One of his more famous art works is the "Pansy sea" (Orvokkimeri) for the World Fair in 1967 in Montreal, a wall installation with numerous different sized Viola flowers.
This Viola flower is ca 28 x 26cm and ca 6cm in depth. The plate is equipped with its original hanging system. The plate is in very good condition, with only one thin scratch (pictured in the close up view).
The small Viola plates are ca 14,5 x 13 cm, and the giant ones are ca 55 x 49 cm. Collect several of these pieces of art and decorate your own Pansy wall!
