The design of this pottery is by Richard Lindh in the 80s and the rice porcelain technique was modified for Arabia by Friedl Holzer-Kjellberg in the 40s. This pottery combines in a very fresh way modern design with ancient techniques and delicate structures.
The rice porcelain jar is 7cm high and about 7,1cm wide. It holds 2dl when filled up to the edges. It can be used for candies or sugar or cream at the coffee table.
The one with circular holes all the way through the wall is a tea light holder. It is also 7cm high, but is 7,3cm wide.

Most of our vintage rice porcelain items are from the eighties and have the blue stamp with the ARABIA crown and ARABIA FINLAND written out on the underside. These are all of the Richard Lindh design from the 80s and have the same type of design.
Then we also have two small bowls marked ARABIA -F.H.Kj- MADE IN FINLAND and these are mid century ones!
F.H.Kj stands for Friedl Holzer-Kjellberg, the woman that in the 40s at Arabia developed the methods for serial production of the rice-porcelain-type decorations and designed the decoration patterns for these older bowls. So these two bowls are very old and were made at Arabia already in the mid century.
